Wildcats: It's Time to Vote!

Northwestern votes – it's what we do. And voting for the 2020 election is already underway and will end on Election Day (Tuesday, November 3). If you haven't voted yet, make your plan today!

Vote by Mail
If you have requested an absentee ballot but not yet received it, track it to make sure it's on its way, or follow up with your local election officials.
  • Once you receive your ballot, be sure to complete and return it right away, allowing as much time as possible for it to arrive before your state's deadline.
  • On the Evanston Campus, if you need help mailing your ballot, you can pick up free stamps and mailing instructions at NU Votes' Mailing Support Stations at Norris, Allison, and 560 Lincoln anytime.
  • For other ballot needs, like ID copies and notary services, visit NU Votes' Voter Services Station, running from Monday, Oct. 26 – Friday, Oct. 30, 2pm–4pm daily, outside the Jacobs Center.
  • Or check out our mailing tips for the Chicago Campus, off campus, or out of state.

Vote in Person (Early or on Election Day)
If you're voting in person, we recommend voting early, to avoid lines and crowds at the polls on Election Day.
  • Evanston and suburban Cook County voters can early vote at the Evanston Civic Center (2100 Ridge, Room G300) every weekday (Monday–Friday 8:30am–7pm) and weekends (Saturday–Sunday 9am–5pm) through November 2.
  • Join NU Votes on walking trips to the Civic Center for early voting or mail ballot drop off, Monday, Oct. 26 – Friday, Oct. 30, leaving every half hour from 2pm–4pm daily, from our Voter Services Station just outside the Jacobs Center.
  • Chicago voters can early vote at any of 51 locations throughout the city.
  • On Election Day (November 3), you must vote at your local polling place. In Illinois, polling places are open from 6am–7pm.
  • Still need to register? In Illinois, you can still register and vote at the same time with TWO forms of ID (proof of identity and proof of address).
  • Voting out of state? Find out when and where you can vote.
